Boulanger: Clairières dans le cielReadings of poetry by Wilfred Owen, Siegfried Sassoon, E.E. Cummings, Rupert Brooke, and other WWI poets.
Art song took on a new role in wartime, voicing themes of love and loss, belonging and loneliness, life and death. Explore these eternal questions in Lost Voices, our second Emerging Voices program, which presents the individual struggles of wartime and gives voice to the many lives cut short. Of particular note is Lili Boulanger’s song cycle Clairières dans le ciel, whose expressions of loss are made all the more searing by the composer’s own imminent death.
Admission for students is free—just click here to reserve your tickets and pick them up at our will-call desk before the performance. We look forward to seeing you at the concert!
