Hao Wu: Documentary Filmmaking Between China and the US

Mandatory: No

Date & Time: Tuesday, Oct 19 2021 - 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm

Dear CIMS majors and students interested in film,

Renowned Chinese American filmmaker Hao Wu is coming to Penn to show his films 76 Days (2020) and All in My Family (2019) on October 19 (see event details here https://cinemastudies.sas.upenn.edu/events/2021/10/19/filmmaker-hao-wu). As part of his visit, Wu will hold a small group discussion with CIMS majors and students interested in documentary filmmaking on Tuesday, October 19, 3-4pm. This will be a great opportunity to learn from an experienced documentary film director who has worked across cultures on cutting-edge topics – online streaming in People’s Republic of Desire (2018), queer identity and surrogacy in All in My Family, and the covid-19 pandemic in 76 Days. If you are interested in participating in this special event, please email Prof. Chenshu Zhou to RSVP by Sunday, October 10. Space is limited to 15 students. If you successfully reserve a spot, you will receive an email confirmation by Wednesday, October 13.
