The Penn Reading Project, sponsored by the Council of Undergraduate Deans, creates an opportunity for the Class of 2022 and Penn faculty from all disciplines to share a unifying intellectual experience through a single text, film, or painting. This year's selection is Thornton Wilder's The Bridge of San Luis Rey.
All freshmen are required to attend an introductory presentation featuring Penn faculty. Later in the afternoon, freshmen will meet with their small groups for a 90-minute session to discuss their essays submitted through Canvas and The Bridge of San Luis Rey with a faculty discussion leader.
With the kick off of PRP 2018, the Office of New Student Orientation and Academic Initiatives will launch the Year of Why, featuring programs and events intended to engage the entire Penn community in exploring the concept of "why" and the many ways it shapes our lives. Visit the theme year website for more details here.
Information about access to The Bridge of San Luis Rey and further PRP details are coming soon.
